Vaccinating your pet has long been considered one of the easiest ways to help them live a long, healthy life.

The Three Steps of a Wellness Visit

1. A Physical Exam

We examine your pet in order to get a better understanding of their health, lifestyle, and travel requirements. Just as humans need to have yearly physical exams with their doctors, our pets also need to be examined by a veterinarian annually. One of our licensed veterinarians will record a thorough history, perform a physical examination and discuss any treatments (including vaccinations) required to keep your pet healthy. Some of the important topics covered during a wellness appointment are:

Heartworm Prevention
Internal Parasite Control
Flea & Tick Control
Dental Care and Cleaning
Weight Management
Nutritional Counselling
Any concerns identified during the appointment

2. Preventative Measures

During our examination, we may determine that your pet needs other treatments in order to prevent certain diseases or illnesses. These may include:

Deworming for internal parasites such as roundworms or tapeworms.
Medication to prevent external parasites such as ticks, fleas or mites.
Heartworm prevention
Blood or urine testing to catch certain diseases in their early stages

3. Vaccination

Once your pet has been examined, we have a more thorough understanding of what types/combinations of vaccines are required. We are happy to discuss all options with you and answer any questions you may have at the time of vaccination. Vaccination is a procedure that has risks and benefits that must be weighed for every pet relative to his/her lifestyle and health. We will recommend a vaccination regime that will provide the safest and best protection for your furry family member.
