Each of our staff members is whole-heartedly devoted to not just technical expertise, but to creating an atmosphere of extraordinary support, honesty and compassion. All of our veterinarians are members of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and the College of Veterinarians of Ontario.

Dr. Gabor Magyar • Veterinarian/Owner

A native of Hungary, Gabor was inspired at a young age to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph before attending the Ontario Veterinary College. Having spent a few years gaining valuable experience in veterinary hospitals in both Alberta and Ontario, he is happy to call Close Veterinary Clinic home. Gabor enjoys all facets of veterinary medicine, with special interests in surgery, dentistry and preventative medicine. Dr. Magyar is Fear Free certified and participates regularly in continuing education to remain current in the profession. He enjoys working together with the compassionate team at Close Veterinary Clinic to provide optimal health care for all four-legged family members! In his spare time, Gabor enjoys reading, mountain-biking and spending time with his beautiful family which includes his wife Laura, daughters Kamilla and Nikoletta, son Roland and Goldendoodle Bundás.

Dr. Heather Brown • Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Brown is one of our friendly, Fear Free certified veterinarians! She grew up in Norfolk County and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph in Animal Biology with a minor in Nutrition and Nutraceuticals. She then went abroad to the University of Edinburgh in Scotland for her veterinary degree where she spent four years studying, as well as travelling throughout Europe in her downtime. Since graduating in 2016, she has worked in Brantford before making the move to Close Vet in Kitchener. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, baking, and travelling.

Dr. Ciara McPhedran • Associate Veterinarian

Dr. McPhedran is one of our Fear Free Certified veterinarians. She grew up in the Ottawa area where she developed her love of all things furry working at an equestrian farm on the weekends and taking care of the family pets. From a young age she knew she wanted to devote her life to helping animals. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Guelph, followed by her DVM at the Ontario Veterinary College. She has an interest in internal medicine and promoting wellness for aging pets. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, hiking, camping, and going on adventures with her dog. She shares her home with her two “kids” – a Corgi named Louie and a Domestic Shorthair named Matilda, who love to compete for her attention (and the best seat on the couch)!

Emilee • Office Manager/Veterinary Technician

Emilee is one of our fantastic, Fear Free certified veterinary technicians on our team! She has been with Close Veterinary Clinic since the beginning and works hard every day to make sure the clinic runs smoothly and that all the patients in our care are well taken care of! She has been the office manager since February 2015, bringing lots of experience to ensure the best service is provided for both patients and clients. Emilee graduated from Office Administration – Veterinary at Conestoga College in 2017. Outside of work, Emilee enjoys spending time with her family and friends. At home, she has four rescued fur babies: two Chihuahuas: Tia & Paco and two feline friends: Indy & Momo.

Amanda • Office Manager/Registered Veterinary Technician

Meet Amanda, one of our Fear Free certified RVTs. Amanda began her educational career by attending Wilfrid Laurier University where she received a BA in Psychology but her passion for animals drove her to pursue a career as a Registered Veterinary Technician instead. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Sheridan College in April 2018 and passed her registry exam in August 2018. Amanda has worked at the clinic since 2017 and become co-manager in 2020. At home, Amanda and her husband have two cats, Luke and Ivy. Ivy was a cat that came into the clinic looking for a new home. Amanda quickly fell in love with her, and she has adjusted well with her new family.

Holly • Registered Veterinary Technician

Holly is one of our friendly, fear free certified RVT’s. Initially from Lambton Shores, she joined our team as a veterinary technician after successfully completing her externship here at our clinic. Prior to coming to Close, she had attended the University of Guelph, at the Ridgetown Campus, where she graduated with honors in October of 2020 and adopted her furry best friend, Stevie! Soon after, she wrote her registry exam and passed in January of 2021. Holly has always had a passion for animal welfare, exceptional healthcare, and continuing education. Aside from her intellectual interests, Holly loves to go hiking and camping, watch the Toronto Maple Leafs (not win the Stanley Cup), relax with her adopted cat Grey, and go on endless adventures with her dog Stevie!

Lesley • Veterinary Technician

Lesley is one of our Fear Free certified Veterinary Technicians.  She began her educational career by graduating from Fanshawe College in the Fitness and Health program and worked as a personal trainer. However, her passion for animals brought her to complete the Veterinary Technician program from Seneca College in 2007. After working as an RVT for many years, family life and raising her 4 kids took priority so she stepped away from the tech life. She rejoined the veterinary profession in 2022 and is enjoying getting back into the field.  She has one dog named Bella who she adopted through a rescue from Mexico.

Jack • Veterinary Technician/Assistant

Jack is one of our wonderful, Fear Free certified veterinary technicians with Close Veterinary Clinic. Jack graduated from the University of Guelph (Ridgetown Campus) in 2013 and lives with three fur babies cats: Florence, Daisy, and Sybil. Daisy came to the clinic as a feral cat with a serious leg injury and is now doing well in her new home.

Meghan • Veterinary Technician

Meghan is one of our Fear Free certified Veterinary Technicians. She has had a love of animals for as long as she can remember. Meghan has multiple hobbies that she takes part in during her free time, some of which are crocheting, baking, singing, and practicing her brass instrument of nearly 20 years, the Alto Horn (mini tuba). Meghan shares her home with her 3-year-old rescue dog Faith and her 3 turtles: Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo.

Fiona • Receptionist

Fiona is one of our Fear Free certified receptionists here at Close Veterinary Clinic. Prior to joining Close Veterinary Clinic, she completed a certificate program in Veterinary Office Administration at the University of Guelph’s Ridgetown Campus. Since graduating Fiona has gathered experience working in veterinary clinics as well as a municipal shelter. While she is very passionate about all animals, Fiona is especially enthusiastic about cats & wildlife. At home she has two talkative and nosy cats Archie & Ariana.

Mary • Receptionist

Mary is one of our friendly, Fear Free certified receptionists. Mary has had a love for animals her whole life, and always had pets growing up including hamsters, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, snakes, geckos, cats, and dogs. She joined the team at the end of 2021 and her passion for animal welfare has only grown since! In her time outside the clinic, she enjoys reading, being outdoors – hiking or camping, and spending time with her two cats, Jenny and Henry.

Nicole • Receptionist

Nicole is one of our outgoing, Fear Free certified receptionists. Nicole has had a love for animals her whole life, and has always had pets in the home, leading her to pursue a career in the field. She is kept busy at home with two dogs, Pippa, a beautiful 9-year-old American Bulldog crossed with Australian Shepherd, and Monty, a 2-year-old rambunctious English Bull Terrier. Nicole will be attending school at Ridgetown in Fall of 2024 to pursue a career as a Registered Veterinary Technician. In Nicole’s spare time, she loves to take her dogs on new adventures and spend time with her beloved husband, Sean!
